Over time, a small number of AMC interviews have stood apart for their density of ideas, clarity of thought, and conceptual depth. These are conversations that do more than document careers. They explore how artists think, how they work, how ideas form, and how experience shapes craft over time.
The interviews collected here are tagged AMC Classroom to indicate that they are especially well suited for use in college and conservatory settings. They can function as primary-source material for courses in music, composition, performance, musicology, arts administration, and related fields, as well as for independent study and discussion.
This designation does not imply a curriculum or instructional framework. Rather, it reflects the interviews’ intellectual seriousness, reflective pace, and openness to sustained listening and analysis.
Each selection below is presented in full, without simplification or didactic overlay. Faculty and students are invited to engage with the material as they see fit.
Edward Klorman- An in-depth discussion of musical meaning, historical listening practices, interpretation, and the relationship between analysis and experience.
